1836 O-105 R4- Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 3
Reverse: D
A tough die marriage to obtain in grades above XF. Only 2 MS appearances last 10 years.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Date is 7 mm. and low, with figures unusually even at bottom. The small 3 is nearly closed top and bottom. There is an obvious opening in the milling just left of the peak of cap.
Reverse- 50 C. is 1 1/4 mm. and high. The 5 has a broard sharply curved and pointed top. Arrow to A is 3/4 mm. I is centered under left side of T. The corrigated bars are between lowest leaves and 50 C. Early states of the die show little or no evidence of the corrigated bars.
Here is a close up of the bars. This same reverse is used on the O-121 R5+, though the bars are more faint.
