One of the toughest 1827's, rarely appearing on the market. The finest is an MS64, and there may be 2 other MS examples out there, with AU's being extremely rare. The early die state is likely more of an R7.
Variety Attribution O-124: Obverse-Star 1 is slightly over 1/2 mm. from Drapery. Star 8 is 3/4 mm. from Cap. Star 13 is 1/2 mm. from Curl. Date is 8 mm. and and a broad 1 with slender serifs to left. Light milling and stars drawn to edge.
O-124a: Stars drawn to edge. No milling.
Reverse- 50 C. is 1 1/2 mm. Arrow to A is 1/4 mm. Center line of stripe 4 extends below shield to feather. Right sides of T-I in line. Light milling and letters frawn to edge.
