1832 O-116 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 11 (Second Marriage)
Reverse: L
Generally a common marriage with examples appearing up through MS64.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Star 1 is 1 1/4 mm. from Drapery. Star 13 is 1/2 mm. from curl. Date is 8 mm.and low. the first 1 was struck with a long serif and then repunched with the short blunt type 1, as the serif clearly indicates. Also traces of this recutting show at base and along right side.
Reverse- 50 C. is 1 3/4 mm. and low, top of C. 1 full mm. from olive stem. Arrowheads crude and joined together and to shafts above. Arrow to A is nearly 3/4 mm. ER nearly touch at base. A in STATES is much higher at base than first T. The right curve at top of the shield extends left at center into the eagle's neck. Usually little or no tail feathers show on this reverse.
