1827 O-128 R4- Capped Bust Half Dollar

There is a decent group of MS examples, but AU's are tough, and even XF's do not appear often. This one overall does not appear that frequently on the market.

Variety Attribution: Obverse-Stars are close to milling. Star 1 is 3/4 mm. from Drapery. Star 13 is 1/4 mm. from curl. Date is 8 1/4mm, and well centered. Well preserved specimens, especially early strikes, usually show fine lines around end of the bust from an unfinished die. The first 4 stars are sharp, while the remainder always seem to be flat.

Reverse- 50 C. is 1 1/4 mm.and high. Arrow to A is slightly less than 1/2 mm. Lines 3 and 1 of stripes 1 and 4 to crossbar 2 and line 3 of stripe 6 to crossbar 3. There is a small ridge like a joint near the center of I in PLURIBUS. E in STATES distinctly recut at top.
