1823 O-110a R3, Ugly 3, Capped Bust Half Dollar

Highly desired variety, available in all grades up to MS65, but made scarcer do to demand. The Busthalfaddict is leaving the O-110 page separate as the 110a is the important die state here.

Variety Attribution: Obverse-Star 1 is 1 mm. from Drapery, Star 13 is 1/2 mm. from curl. Stars large and mostly flat. Date is 8 1/2 mm. with figures that are close spaced. The 2 is low, the 3 has a large curl with a blunt end at top and an open curl. Mouth is open. Ugly 3, which is the result of the die crack from the edge to the right side of the 3 the figure 3 has become rough and ill shaped, the stand devoid of curves, just bumps.
Reverse- 50C is 21/4 mm. with large figures and well centered. Arrow to A is 1/4 mm. I is centered under T. base of A2 is higher than base of M.
