1827 O-120 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 15 (Second Marriage)
Reverse: P
O-120 R5 is below, O-120a R3 at bottom
The early die state is seldom seen, but the later die state appears somewhat frequently with high grade examples available let by a single MS67.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Star 1 is 3/4 mm. from Drapery Star 13 is 1/4 mm. from curl. Date is 8 1/2mm, there are several raised defect lines parallel to the milling , under end of the bust and left of the date.
Reverse- 50 C. is 1 1/4 mm. and high with top of C very close to stem (less than 1/2 mm.). Arrow to A is 1/2 mm. Right side of T and left side of I in line.
O-120a: Die crack at top of UNITED STATES.
Notes:
Obverse 15 is used on the infamously rare O-149 R8
PCGS Graded AU58. Very pretty coin with little or no wear and very decent luster. A 58 by any standard.
