1833 O-110 R1 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 10
Reverse: J
O-110 R1 below, O-110a R2 bottom
This marriage now ranks as my # 1 toughest R1 Overton variety as only 12 MS and AU problem free examples (both die states) have surfaced the last 10 years, including 8 MS and 5 AU coins. This was updated 08/23/2018. This really does not show up often in problem free higher grades when there are supposed to be 1000+ examples available.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Stars are large with broad points, (some look clipped off) and most are flat. Date is 8 mm.and and 18 a shade wider than 833. Face has a decidedly pained expression.
Reverse- 50 C. is 1 mm. and set high. Arrow to A is 1/2 mm. ine 3 of stripe 4 extends boldly downward below the shield. Arroheads separated. Center dot between crossbars 4 and 5. A pronounced curved die line from top of 50 through C. to the period. Second S in STATED recut. A die line from edn of olive stem extending right.
O-110a: Crack from rim through lower pair of leaves, claws and along upper arrow shaft. (very tough to spot!)
