1809 O-110 R4+ (XXX Edge) Capped Bust Half Dollar

As a high R4, this one is tough commanding premiums well above a normal 1809. There is a single MS63 at the top of the census, but problem free AU's and XF's are extremely tough as many have issues. With supposedly 81-120 of these existant, it does not appear all that often for sale, which may indicate a number closer to 80.

Variety Attribution: Obverse- Star 13 scalloped point toward curl. Stars are large and sharp. Date is 9 3/4 mm. and well centered. 18 wider than 809. Curl clear of headband. A fine die crack from edge through lower points of star 4 on most specimens, that develops into a die break ending in small irregular lumps in field. Mouth is slightly open.

Reverse-50 C. is 1 1/4 mm. Arrow to A is slightly less than 1 mm. A is lower and touches under the left base of M. U in UNITED broadly recut at base. There is a row of uniform, pointed, segments clash marked between scroll and eagle's head on most specimens seen.
