1826 O-116 R1 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 10 (Second Marriage)
Reverse: O
O-116 R1 below, O-116a R1 bottom. I strongly doubt that the O-116 die state is R1, probably R5 is a better description.
Overall this Marriage ranks as #3 toughest for an R1, with only 1 O-116 (prime) in problem free AU, and around 30 MS and AU problem free O-116a's appearing the past 10 years. Yes the 116a is somewhat available and common, but tougher than most R1's.
Variety Attribution O-116: Obverse-Stars large and star 7 points ot top curve of curl. Date is 8 1/2 mm. top of 2 lower than 186, with a large curl and blunt point. A straight line near inner points of four segments, just above star 7. That line may or may not be present in this marriage.
O-116a: A fine die crack joins all stars on left and a second crack joins all stars on right. Both cracks run to milling above cap. In late states the crack on left extends across bust and through center of date. Die line above star 7 may not show.
Reverse- 50 C. is 2 mm. Arrow to A is 1/2 mm. Right sides T-I in line. Left base of M higher than right base of A. Most specimens show a fine die crack that joins STATES OF AMERICA and continues across arrowheads. 50 C to milling below olive leaves.
