1825 O-112 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 9
Reverse: K
Though considered an R3, higher grade examples appear enough for this marriage to be obtainable in all grades.
NGC Graded AU55. Picked this up way back in 2006 as my first Capped Bust Half Dollar when I returned to collecting. It got me going on my quest for The Club. Pleasing original surfaces this. I know some like more flash, but this one has a great look the way it is.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Stars are large and close to milling. Star 13 just misses touching curl. Date is 8 mm.with 82 very close and base of 2 lower than other figures. Mouth slightly open.
Reverse- 50 C. is slightly over 1 1/2 mm. and low. Arrow to A is 1 mm. There is a vertical die defect line through upper 4 crossbars at right. Line 3 of stripe 2 and line 1 of stripe 4 extend to third crossbar. I is centered under right side of T.
