1831 O-120 R6 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 12
Reverse: F (Third Marriage, first used in 1830 O-109 as Rev I, then on O-107 1831)
This one is a tough marriage that seldom appears in any grade. Higher grades are nearly impossible. Look for cherry opportunities as 1831's (as most of the later dates) are tougher to determine die pairings)
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Long serifs on both 1's in date. 31 is lower than 18. A slight die crack though base of 31 to edge below 8 and to right of 1 into field. The die is bulged in area bounded by star 1 to star 4 to nose and then to bust. Small bulge in field near stars 10 and 11. Small bulge above 3 just left of curl. Crack between outer tips of stars 9 and 10.
Reverse- 50 C. is 1 mm. and high. Arrow to A is 1/2 mm. I is centered under left side of T. All lines of crossbars and stripes are usually sharp. The same reverse as 1830 Rev I, O-109.
