1831 O-104 R1 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 3 (Second Marriage)
Reverse: D (Second Marriage, first used on 1829 O-120)
A common die marriage with a pair 65's at the top, and a group of 64's next in the census. AU's are readily available.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Star 13 is 1/4 mm. from curl. Date is 7 mm. and well centered. Both ones show narrow recutting along sides and have merely small points for serifs at top. First one sharply higher than 8. There are two distinct horizontal die defect lines below bust. The upper one touches the lowest fold of the drapery.
Reverse- 50 C. is 1 1/2 mm. and well centered. Arrow to A is 1 mm. Right side of D and left side of E in line. A die defect line crosses upper olive berry and joins the two upper pair of leaves.
