1810 O-104 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 3
Reverse: D
Reverse: D
O-104 R3? below, O-104a R3? at bottom
This one makes my toughest R3 list with only a 15 problem free MS and AU examples appearing the past 10 years, two of which from a recent single collection that was liquidated. There are a handful of MS examples out there with another small group of AU's. The total number of examples surviving seems to be split between the two die states, with R3 as the overall rarity and maybe each die state being a low R4. It is possible that the best of this marriage have all been scooped up by the die marriage collectors leaving the dregs for everyone else.
Variety Attribution: Obverse- Star 1 is 1 1/4 mm. from drapery and star 13 slightly over 1/4 mm. from curl. Date is 9 1/2 mm. and well centered.
