1808 O-108 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 8
Reverse: H
Reverse: H
O-108 R3 below, O-108a R3 at bottom
It appears that the 108a is a bit scarcer than that earlier die state O-108. The Newman 108a is by far the finest, but the easier die state to obtain in the AU grade range is the earlier die state. Both die states are tagged with an R3, but the later die state is likely an R4 and combind the die state is R3.
PCGS Graded XF40. Neat battle scarred gray coin that looks like another barn find. Very original with most of the details present.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-date is 8 1/4 mm. and slightly high. Most of left base of 1 is missing (This like many others may show clash marks). Stars 1, 7, 8 all point between segments.
Reverse-50 C. is 3 mm. Arrow to A is 1 mm. Arrowheads close with two lower ones joined. A small weak center dot above wing. I centered under right side of T.
O-108a: There is a die crack around legend at top.
