1822 O-115 R3 Capped Bust Half Dollar
Obverse: 14
Reverse: N
A somewhat common variety, yet in problem free grades above XF this one becomes rather scarce, or even rare.
Variety Attribution: Obverse-Stars large. Date is 8 1/4 mm. mouth slightly open. Stars 7-8-13 all about 1/2 mm from cap and curl.
Reverse- 50C is 2 mm. Arrow to A is 1/4 mm. E is far left with stand centered between ED. Again the inside right serifs of all three A's are missing, but the left stands and crossbars of same are straight and strong, as compared to the previous revers M. Most specimens also show die cracks contiguous to the legend, at UNITED STATES and one passes through MERICA leaving a small lunp at center of R and continuing through 50 C. to edge below leaves. This reverse shows many unusual similarities to reverse M, but positions of diagnostic a's and center dot will readily establish the difference.
